When Should You Move?
Being a realtor, I have come across a lot of people who have asked me when the best time would be to move. Now, this is actually a very difficult question and I don’t think I can actually answer it honestly for you. The majority of people ask about costs and whether they change as the year goes by. In this case, I can confidently say no. It is actually only the amount of houses available in today’s market that change, along with the amount of buyers. With this article, I hope to help you in making the right choices when it comes to you and your entire family.
It is a very well-known myth that money comes in heap loads for your house during the spring season. This is extremely far from the truth. Seasons have absolutely nothing to do with the amount of money you could receive for your home, although it could affect the amount of competition that will come your way. It is true that a lot of people seem to look for homes to buy during the spring. But, simultaneously, a lot of houses exist in the market that you can already compete with. Sadly, spring is also that specific time of the year when everyone is out “shopping”. These could be people who are simply on the lookout for new ideas for renovation or the people who are bored and want to look at which houses are open during the time. During the winter season, there will hardly be any showings; however, if there are, you can be sure that these people are serious about buying. I am not saying that you should not sell during the spring, though. There is never a bad or a good time during the year, in which to sell houses, truth be told. The ideal time would simply be whenever you are emotionally and financially prepared for the move.
A lot of parents like to wait until school years have ended before deciding to move the entire family. Although this may look like it makes a whole lot of common sense when you first look at it, it really does not. Children always require friends that they can play with. If you move your kids a few months before the school term ends, they will get the chance to meet new friends within a completely new neighborhood. Making new friends will make moving so much easier and much less confusing in the eyes of your children. Plus, if they find friends that they can play with, you will never have to worry about them while you’re unpacking or trying to organize the new house.
